Bruce Truman, Senior Pastor Bruce Truman :: Senior Pastor Bruce came to Shively in January of 2003 after having served three churches in the eastern part of Kentucky. He is married to the love of his life, Marilyn, and they have had five children together. Bruce is a graduate of the University of Kentucky (Jefferson Community College, A.A.S., in physical therapy); Lexington Baptist College (B.A. in Bible); and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div in Theology).Bruce bases his pulpit ministry on expository preaching and works hard each week to help hundreds of weekly attenders meaningfully apply God’s Word to their lives. He believes the biggest question of sermon preparation is the “So what?” question and strives to show how God’s Word is relevant to our daily lives.You can check out his blog, Sunday to Sunday, here. Ken Cutrer :: Associate Pastor of Education & Administration.Ken came to Shively Baptist in January of 2000 after serving two and a half years in the Cayman Islands. He has served churches in Texas, Ohio, Grand Cayman and Kentucky as Pastor, Associate Pastor, Young Adults Minister and Youth Minister. He and his lovely wife of 21 years, Gretchen, have two children, Jonathan and Jeffrey. Ken has degrees from The University of Kentucky (Bachelor of Arts in Education, 1975), Eastern Kentucky University (Master of Arts in Education/Geography, 1976), and Ashland Theological Seminary in Ashland, Ohio (Master of Arts in Christian Education, 1989, Doctor of Ministry, 1993).Ken is committed to the faithful teaching of God’s Word, the development of small groups in the church and the obedient stewardship and administration of God’s house of worship.

Jason Stewart :: Minister of Music and Worship

Jason hails from the Metro Atlanta area and has served
in GA, AL, SC, and KY for over 16 years in both musical and pastoral leadership. Jason came to SBC in January of 2004. He and his wife, Stephanie, have two beautiful children, Evan and Ashlan. Jason holds a BA in Music from Jacksonville State University (1993) and a Master of Divinity in Church Music from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (1998).

A big ‘ol southern boy at heart, Jason loves anything with loud engines and wheels, including NASCAR and V-Twin motorcycles. His love and enthusiasm for people shines through his desire to see the Savior exalted in both personal and corporate worship.

Phil Rice::Minister of YouthPhil came to Shively in 2003 as Youth Intern and became the full time Minister of Youth in 2005. He is a graduate of The Boyce College of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with a B.S, in Youth Ministry. He is married to Scottie and they have two bouncing baby boys, Brady and Caleb.Phil has a passion to see students come to Christ, grow in their faith, use their gifts in service, and go reach the world.

Billie Jo Klinglesmith::Director of Weekday Education”For as long as I can remember, I have had a deep love for children. My prayer, even as a child, was, “Please Lord, give me children to care for and love; either as a teacher, or as a mother.” What profound joy that He allowed both!”Billie Jo has been married to Daryl for 37 years. They have two children, Daryl Jr. and Courtney, and four “precious” grandchildren, Jonathan, Clarissa, Brittany, and Ethan.Bille Jo came to Shively, first as a teacher in our Weekday Early Education ministry in 1980. She attended The University of Louisville, and served as the Pre-Kindergarten Teacher until 1998. After much consideration and prayer, she accepted the call to serve as the Director of our Children’s Weekday Education Ministry in the Fall of 1998.Billie Jo strives to minister to families by loving and meeting the needs of their little ones! “Great ministry can be achieved when we simply love people’s children!” One of her favorite Bible verses is: “anyone who welcomes one of these little ones in my name welcomes me.”
